Dr Raj Parkash (Implantologist)

We are distressed to share with you some tragic news. On the 14th March 2013, Raj Parkash was involved in a motorcycle accident and tragically lost his life. Leaving behind a son and daughter aged 6 & 4. He was not only a hugely accomplished surgeon, but was also a charming and cheerful character, well liked by his co-workers and his patients. He will be sadly missed, may his dear soul rest in peace.

(Raj qualified from King's College London and had undergone a rigorous training programme in implant and advanced restorative dentistry not only in the UK but also in Europe, USA and Asia. Raj holds the Certificate in Restorative Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Hospital, the Certificate in Implant Dentistry from the Tatum Institute and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Dental Implantologists.

Raj had many years of experience with multiple implant systems and had a special interest in treating complex cases thereby integrating various fields of advanced dentistry. He was one of the first surgeons to gain the Diploma in Dental Implantology from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was selected to become a clinical tutor for the Royal College and is actively committed to furthering dental implant training in the UK.

Raj had written many clinical articles for professional journals and is also involved in lecturing in implant dentistry both in the UK and abroad.)

Continuing Professional Development - October 2007

morris weinstein dentistMorris has just returned from Barcelona where he attended the European ‘Damon System’ Symposium.  The symposium was attended by almost two thousand dentists and orthodontists from all over the world.  The Damon System is a new and unique system of orthodontic treatment.  The advances made in straightening teeth have improved in leaps and bounds.
Utilising this system, dentists are able to straighten teeth using very light forces which are much more comfortable for the patient.  The light forces are more in tune with the body’s biological system. The teeth move far more quickly than with the old style metal brackets and stainless steel wires which produced considerable strain on the tooth and bone.  Dentists are able to do treatment now for adults, which was previously only possible on children.

Morris had occasion to meet the remarkable founder of the system, Dr. Dwight Damon (above)  Commenting on the innovation, Morris who has been using the system for over two years said: ’’This is not just a new and less obtrusive orthodontic bracket.  This is a new innovation and represents a different concept in treatment.  The low friction system and high technology wires exert a very low, but constant force on the teeth and as a result, the changes are quicker and more dramatic.  Our patients can see and feel the benefit and the results speak for themselves.  We look forward to being part of what some day will, no doubt be acknowledged to be a revolutionary advance in orthodontic care.’’ Take a look on

The course was run by American orthodontist Dr Alan Bagden The appliance system was invented by Dr Dwight Damon who pioneered the use of low forces on teeth using high technology Nicol titanium wires in friction free brackets.  His friend and colleague, Dr Alan Bagden was extremely skeptical and he set out to test the system himself in order to prove that it would not work.  He was so impressed with the results that he has now become a ‘disciple’ for the system and lectures worldwide on the Damon system.

Morris has been using this marvellous system and will be attending the Damon Symposium in Barcelona in October 2007.  Morris is pictured above with Alan Bagden at the Cologne event.
